Posted by admin On July - 21 - 2010

She/He is just a month old. (Ill obviously wait a bit before sale.) She/He is ebony (black), And very tame. Not sure yet if kitt is male or female. I am selling to a pet shop, As I would rather accept less money and let the kitt go to a loving home. How much should I charge for the chinnie

2 - If female

Thanks!

I agree. If you want to find him/her a loving home, then find a buyer yourself, don’t send it to a pet store. I can’t tell you how many horror stories I have heard (and witnessed) with chins care while in the pet store, and the nightmares they go home to. Thankfully, many of them survive by ending up in rescue, but too many don’t. They die due to ignorance of the buyer and just general carelessness.

Pet stores don’t care who they sell to. They care who puts money in their pockets. You will never know if your chin went to a loving home or to a home that kills it with their ignorance.

If you insist on selling to a pet store, then I would only do it if it was a male. I would never consider selling a female to a pet store. because everybody out there is a "breeder." They go and buy chins from a pet store, with no pedigrees, no known health history, generally too small, weak furred, and bad quality and throw it with a male and call themselves breeders. Pet store animals should never be bred, because you have no idea if you are breeding bad health issues, but people who buy from pet stores don’t care. They are either looking to make a buck or think all there is to breeding chins is cute fuzzy babies. I would never sell a female of mine to a pet store, under any circumstances, because I wouldn’t want her to become a breeding factory.

As to price? Going rate right now wholesale is $45.00 for a mutation (which an ebony is) and $25.00 for a standard. I doubt you’ll get a whole lot more dealing with a pet store yourself, rather than through a middleman.

Please reconsider. Try posting here at http://www.chins-n-hedgies.com and see if you can find him/her a home. You need to know by 4 weeks what sex it is, btw, so you can list that on your classified ad. Hopefully a loving pet home can be found here.

You can sell it for what the petshop is willing to give.. they will want to make a profit on it.. people can suggest prices, but honestly, if the petshop doesnt want to give you that much, you wont get it.. they have resources for obtaining pets cheaply so they can make a profit.
