Is it hard to take care of a chinchilla?

I heard they can run around without being in a cage. Is that true? Also, can you potty train them or anything? Would you recommend one? Thank you!

First of just getting the Chinchilla and everything it needs cost can cost up to $300 and they can be out of the cage if they are supervised properly. You can’t really potty train a chinchilla but they do usually go in a certain place so you could place something there. So personally as much as I like chinchillas I would not recommend them.
