Baby Chinchillas on a Flying Saucer Chinchilla Wheel

Posted by admin On September - 14 - 2009

There’s four of the baby chinchillas in this cage, and I caught them at night time (mind the dark video), and they’re having a blast on the new “Flying Saucer” wheel we got for them lol. Towards the end three of them try to cram onto it at once. XD

I’ve had the flying saucer wheel for about 8 years. It is so rusted and noisy now. I just ordered a new one for my chins. They have a Leo Braun, but they like the flying saucer better. You have cute chins!

I don’t trust eBay, so I don’t use it very often plus you never are fully sure of what you’ll be getting, as people can lie about the things they sell. That’s fien to buy them on eBay as you’ll probably get a slammin’ deal on one, but I know that the only place to find them for US, as in my store, is from the distributor.

Aye indeed, thanks for posting. It only kill them for chewing on plastic if they ingest it. But yes, the only unfortunate thing about these flying saucers is you can only get them direct from the guy who makes them or in my store which is only in one location. :S And it’s friggin’ expensive for a FlLying Saucer, but if you can fashion one yourself that’s safe and won’t catch on the chinchilla then all power to ya!

Yes, do keep your chinchillas and any animal safe out there. :)

READ THIS! If anyone has a plastic wheel get rid of it! If your chinchilla chews on it, it will kill them! It happened to me and I don’t want it to happen to anyone else. My chinchilla, Coco, thought it would be cool to chew and her wheel. Go out and buy a metal, non-painted wheel. Ten dollars can spear you baby’s life. I wish I knew the dangers of plastic. You can also get a flying saucer like in the video. This also goes for bunnies, chinchillas, hamsters, mice, ect! Kisses to all chinchillas!

well we sell them in the store here, but we can only get them through a distributor, the guy who makes them himself, and even then we have to buy a minimum of 7 wheels, and they are pretty pricey if you buy that many. X_X

aww, sorry to hear that! Sometimes some of them will just take to the wheel in no time flat but other times it takes a little while for them to get used to it. Have you watched them late at night to see if they really are running or not? But thankfully the ones we get from the breeders have a wheel at the breeder’s house so they already know how.

Hey i’ve got 2 of these flying saucer wheels cos they look great fun!.. but both of my chinchillas refuse to use them! The cage i have is huge so i might have to lock them in the wheel only section for a while to see if they use them then. Ive tried putting the little buggers on the wheel but they just sit there! I might have to get 2 more chins to show these guys what to do.
