do you have to take care of a chinchilla daily?
So heres the deal i want a cool pet like a chinchilla my parents are divorced and im only with my dad on thurusdays thru sundays all the other days im with my mom do you have any ideas or tips for me
If your mom isn’t willing to care for your pet while you are gone, then don’t get a pet until you are old enough to move out on your own. I can’t think of a single pet, exotic or not, that doesn’t need care every single day. Dogs, cats, chinchillas, rats, degu, hedgehogs, etc., all need care every day. They certainly cannot go for four days with no attention.
About the only thing I can think of you "might" be able to do that with would be a snake. Some of them only need very infrequent feedings. Again, that’s a "might" because I am not a herp person and do not know a lot about snakes and their day to day care. I’m just thinking of the feeding aspect of the larger snakes.
You cannot leave a chinchilla without care for 4 days. Their water bottle could leak and leave them dry. Their food could tip and fall out. They could develop an illness and you would miss it. They don’t need run time outside of their cage every day. They won’t die without it. If you have a nice sized cage for them, and even put a wheel in it, they are perfectly happy and entertained in that cage. Run time is a great opportunity for them to exercise, and for you to bond, but they don’t have to have it every day. Leaving them unattended for 4 days, however, is not an option.

Yes chinchillas do need to be taken care of daily. They need fresh water and food every day, also they -NEED- to have playtime (time outside the cage in a chinproof room) once a day, for an hour minimum.

Chinchillas need to be taken care of everyday so unless your parent is willing to take care of it when you are not there than it probably would be best to think of a different animal. check out exotic pets and see about different ones.

Chinchillas require a lot of care including fresh food and water daily. Most animals need daily care and attention. Without your mother’s help it would be a bad idea to get a pet.
