Chinchilla cage/housing
On March - 9 - 2010
A video showing my chinchillas and where they live. I have a ferret nation cage split in half for them. Tristan lives on the top and Toby lives on the bottom.
Tristan doesn’t have a wheel yet, but I plan on getting him one for Christmas, shhhh!
I purchased the wheel from www.qualitycage.com
For some reason Youtube won’t let me post a web address in the comments.

I got the Ferret Nation 142 from ferret . com
You can also take out the middle section so it’s one big cage but I left it seperated since my chinchilla do not get along.

I actually made the ledges. I bought a long piece of kiln dried pine and cut it into sections. I then used screws, washers, and nuts to attach them to the cage.
The wooden bridge was made for me by a friend on a chinchilla forum I am a member of.
And the metal pans are from bassequipment . com

They don’t live …
They don’t live together because if they did they would fight and could possibly end up killing each other.
One level per chinchilla on the ferret nation cage is fine. I give mine out of cage time everyday anyways so they don’t spend all day in the cage.
And the wheel is a 15″ ChinSpin. Its one of the best chinchilla wheels out there and is definitely not too small, even for my big boys! lol
Thanks for the feedback!

May i ask why they do not live together? Think one level each may be a bit small.
I’m getting chinchillas next year but already have their Ferret Nation Cage 142 and the add on 143 level and i’m hoping thats big enough!!
Also the wheel looks a bit small. Small wheels can put strain on their backs by making them arch.
On the plus side your chins look happy and are very cute!!
