best bet is to buy them right after they r weaned they will be easier to tame and get one from a breeder not a petstore! at a petstore they seem to be kinda mean and nervous

Not necessarily, if he’s let out from a good hour-two a day he should be fine, but its dependant on room I suppose as well, I have two which each have a 6foot by 3foot cage but most people can’t find room for just one that size.

My chin never once chewed on the plastic shelving. If it was not meant for a chin it wouldn’t be sold for them.

  23. Saexy Says:

My chinchilla chews on anything he can get his mouth on. I have several parts of my wall that he’s actually chewed on through the holes of the cage he’s in. He has also chewed a huge hole through a pet carrier. I’m sure there are quite a few chins out there that don’t chew on their plastic cages but I think the majority of them do and will so I think the metal cages are the best for them imo.

  24. mbenson2790 Says:

so you say dont give them plastic products, but you give them a “soft material” house to sleep in? can’t they eat/rip up/choke on that just as easily as a plastic object??

  25. Meatbagz Says:

certain fleeces and etc. are chinchilla proof and they really won’t chew on things like that.
