i have 2 different habitats that could use some plants. the first one is the one with my chinchillas, we thought it would be nice to get them a plant to chew on, but we don’t know what plants to use. we want something easy to care for, that doesn’t need sun to grow, and won’t poison our chinchillas.
the 2nd one is for our tortoise, same thing, easy to care for, doesn’t need sunlight (or can survive on a heat lamp), and won’t poison the tortoise (he’s a solcata, if that makes any difference)
thank you!
ok, something alive and realistic. im sorry, but i cant fit a tree in the chinchilla cage
chinchillas also absolutely love eating pine tree branches (make sure they are dry and do not contain pine tar). They also love fresh alfalfa or oat hay to munch on.
Sulcata tortoises are grazing tortoises so they need grazing foods like grasses and weeds. These grasses and weeds need to be fertilizer and pesticide free. They can have a certain amount of high fiber greens like turnip greens, kale, escarole, etc., but the majority (70%) of their diet should be grasses/weeds. Hay is a good way to supplement when grass and weeds are not available.
