Do Chinchillas not have an odor whatsoever?
I have a friend who is determined to have his own Chinchilla, and my first reply was that as a small rodent-like creature, it would probably be generally smelly. He defense is that Chinchillas have no smell in their fur or even their feces. I’ve no idea where he’s getting this information. Does anyone with experience raising a Chinchilla know whether this is true or not? Also, how are chinchillas as pets, basically? I gathered that they’re rather frail with delicate digestive systems, and I want to discourage my friend from getting one if so. He likely doesn’t have the patience or proper handling they need.

Dory is my rescue chinchilla. She has malocclusion and has been very sick lately. She has to be syringe fed and needs pain medication everyday. I love her dearly and seeing her enjoying herself and life, brings me so much joy!
