Do I have all the information on keeping a chinchilla as a pet?
I am very interested in keeping a chinchilla but I have never had one before. (I’m not sure I fully convinced my mother to let me get one but if she lets me then…) I have researched them online and I think I know what I need to do to care for a chinchilla properly. If this is not correct then please tell me what isn’t correct and if I left out anything. Ok so, I know that they have to have big, roomy cages with lots of things to play on and it can’t have any plastic because chinchillas chew to keep their teeth from growing too long and they can’t digest plastic. Also, I need to buy chinchilla pellets (with no treats in it) for them to eat. Also, I heard that they can only have treats about twice a week because of their digestion. They need things to chew on that are safe for them such as twigs that are not sprayed with anything and that are not cedar or pine. Also, they need bedding such as Aspen. It also, can not be cedar or pine. They need their dust bath about twice a week. If there’s anything that’s wrong or I forgot anything, please tell me! Thanks so much!
Oh! and I forgot about their flying saucer wheel
